I went to the forge today and started my first wood auger. It's supposed to look something like this.

Dorm chair mandolele
A while ago I spotted a broken chair in the basement. I scavenged some oak from it, and finally got around to using it this past weekend. In a one-night extravaganza of poor craftsmanship, I put this together.

mbira
back in the summer of 2011 I made an mbira. It's a lamellophone with roots in Africa. Notes are created by plucking rigidly held metal strips of different lengths.
dulcimer thing update
dulcimer thing is lots of fun. My finger's been hurting a lot lately, so I haven't been playing much, but I did finally get around to fabricating a machine tuner after a big bass string torqued one of my wood tuning pegs apart.
obligatory quadrotor post
I just recently got the chance to play with my first quadrotor. A friend donated to me a small-ish (about 1' square) quad frame made of CF laminated over end grain balsa as well as a handful of older brushless motors and ESCs. I haven't always been the biggest fan of quadrotors, but this one flew into my hands so I figured I'd better try it out.
